Hot Bird :: NYC Beer Gardens

 Hot Bird

For years, New Yorkers have seen the bright yellow signs for "Hot Bird," but there was no place by that name to be found, as the original barbecue joints closed in the 90s. Now there's a new Hot Bird in town, and while it doesn't do barbecue, it does have a fantastic beer garden -- and the interior space isn't too shabby either. With subway tile and exposed brick walls, exposed pipes, and bar stools that look like they came right out of your high school chemistry lab, the space is definitely industrial-chic, which makes for an easygoing, though stylish, ambiance.

Hot Bird hosts a daily happy hour until 8pm, and guests are welcome to linger over their beers. Unlike many places in New York, Hot Bird also features something few places can claim: lots of room. It's quieter here than most bars, so you can actually catch up with friends in a low-key place where the drinks are inexpensive (but strong) and the outdoor fire goes until closing
